Clarkesworld Magazine is a monthly Hugo Award-winning science fiction and fantasy magazine that publishes short stories, interviews, articles and audio fiction. Original fiction is also published in an annual trade paperback series from Wyrm Publishing.  Currently open for art, non-fiction and short story submissions. Fiction word limit: 1,000 -8,000 words.  Pays 10¢ per word up to 4000 words, 5¢ per word after.

Minimum payment is $50 (Canadian) and maximum payment is $200 (Canadian), plus a one year subscription.

CONJURINGS

Conjurings is a bi-annual and is the fantasy specific periodical of White Cat Publications, LLC short stories, flash fiction, interviews, reviews, and columns for print and digital download. Publish in April and October.  Pay 3 cents per word for short stories and flash fiction.  Pay 1 cent per word for reprints.

Do not consider unsolicited manuscripts between May 15 and August 15. Pays $50 per printed page for prose and $4 per line for poetry.

Online biannual literary journal publishing fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. We focus on authors based in or with ties to the Muslim world in the largest sense. At the same time, we strive to present a rainbow of themes and writing styles. Our biggest criterion is quality. We are looking for powerful, well-crafted pieces that throb with meaning. Fiction should have vivid characters and an original plot. Length should be 1,000-5,000 words.  Creative Nonfiction should convey factual material in a way that reads like a literary work. Pay $25 USD per published fiction or nonfiction piece, and $10 USD per poem. Does not pay for reprints.

Story guidelines, in general: short fiction or narration written to the standards of fiction, under 2000 words, never published before.  Shorter is better. Prefer some connection with Illinois or the Midwest.  All contributors are paid $50 on acceptance. Buy first rights, including Internet publication. No email submissions.
